Their surfaces are covered \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewith thick layers of oil stick that are scraped into, buried in glitter, smeared \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eand massaged by hand, covered in sand, embedded with confetti, wiped down \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eand then piled up again until they start to achieve a living presence. They \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eultimately aim to heal by bringing light into the darkest places within myself, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eand by acting as vessels where contradictory energies and selves can find \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ebalance and coexist.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTESS JENKINS (b. 1986, Albany, NY) uses painting as a tool of investigation \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eto better understand our infinitely complicated, multi-layered body systems, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ehow we relate to them, and how they affect our senses of self. She received a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFine Arts Diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eis a 2023 participant in NYC Crit Club’s year-long intensive mentorship The \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCanopy Program. Recent group exhibitions include The Pit (Palm Springs, CA), \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eUnpaved Gallery (Yucca Valley, CA) and Compound YV (Yucca Valley, CA).
